Alamo United Methodist Church was honored with a Community Connections Award during the Judson Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on August 21.

Rev. Robert Knappage, pastor of Alamo United Methodist Church, was invited to offer the invocation at the meeting. During the meeting, the congregation was recognized for its continued support of Candlewood STEM Academy and its students.

Each year, Alamo United Methodist Church supports its neighborhood elementary school through prayer, service, and the donation of needed school supplies. This year, members of the congregation collected and donated 1,000 composition notebooks to Candlewood STEM Academy.

“These notebooks are more than school supplies,” said Rev. Knappage. “They represent our congregation’s love for the children, teachers, staff, and families in our community. We want every student to know that their neighbors believe in them and are cheering them on.”

Candlewood STEM Academy expressed its appreciation for the congregation’s generosity and ongoing partnership:

“Our Candlewood STEM Academy Eagles are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Alamo United Methodist Church. These supplies will make a meaningful difference for our Eagles as they learn, create, explore, and discover throughout the school year. We are thankful to have such an amazing community partner supporting our students and our school.”

Alamo United Methodist Church is grateful to Judson ISD for the Community Connections Award and considers it an honor to serve alongside Candlewood STEM Academy. The congregation remains committed to building relationships and sharing God’s love through practical acts of mercy, grace, and service.
