Celebrating the Impact of the Miracle Sunday Initiative

August 19, 2026

Dear Rio Texas Conference,

When I invited our churches to participate in the Love Boldly. Serve Joyfully. Lead Courageously. Miracle Sunday Initiative, I did so believing that the people of the Rio Texas Conference would respond with generosity and faith. You have done just that.

As of today, Rio Texas churches have given $92,388.78 to support the Endowment for Theological Education Outside the United States, and gifts continue to arrive. Thanks be to God!

This is far more than a number. It is a testimony to what God can do when God's people come together in shared mission. Through your generosity, future pastors in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines will receive theological education that equips them to faithfully proclaim the gospel and lead Christ's Church for generations to come.

I am deeply grateful to every congregation, pastor, lay leader, and individual who participated. Whether your church received a special offering, shared the stories throughout the six-week emphasis, or continued giving afterward, you became part of something much larger than yourselves.

My sincere thanks also go to Conference Coordinator Byrd Bonner and district coordinators James Mobley, Mark Nerio, and Rachel Wright. Their faithful leadership, encouragement, and support helped make this initiative a success across the Rio Texas Conference.

As Byrd Bonner reflected, Miracle Sunday gave Rio Texas churches the opportunity to make a direct impact on the global mission field by helping to provide theological education for future clergy worldwide.

Our connection extends beyond conference boundaries and national borders. This initiative is a beautiful reminder of what is possible when we answer God's call together.

Thank you for loving boldly, serving joyfully, and leading courageously. Because of your generosity, future pastors around the world will be equipped to share the hope of Jesus Christ for years to come.

May God continue to bless you and the ministries of your congregations.

Grace and peace,

Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey
