A group of 5 Hispanic Female pastors attended past week(9/28 to 10/1) to Durham – NC representing Rio Texas Conference to El Plan Hispano Ministry– “Entre Nos” Conference. This conference presented a place where can articulate a definition for what Hispanic/Latine ministry is and provide the denomination clarity around protocol, best practices, and contextual reality of many of our communities.

“Entre Nos” began with an amazing vibrant Opening Worship with Dr Claudio Carvalhaes at Duke Chapel, Workshops and presentations of agency partners (GCORR- Race and Religion, Discipleship Ministries, Upper Room, Wespath,  GBGM, GBCS, GBHEM).

Focus in Fiesta was act of resistance and FAMILIA (Fellowship, Accept the differences, Motivation, Identities, Loyalty, Inclusive and Affirm) that we are children of God, a presentation by Dr. Giovanni Arroyo (GCORR).

Rio Texas Conference Hispanic Female Pastors in Attendance: Rev. Laura Dorantes (Westlawn – SA), Rev. Maribel Vazquez( Emanuel – SA), Rev. Nohemi Ramires(La Trinidad – SA), Rev. Raquel Feagins (Emanuel – Austin) and Rev. Veronica Hernandez (El Buen Pastor – San Marcos).

Entre Nos- presented a bilingual zoom conversations clergy, laity and conference staff study conducted across all five jurisdictions with purpose to assess needs, realities, and strategies. Goal: Inform strategies and legislation for General Conference 2028 and help denomination understand a Hispanic/Latine realities. By Rev. Maribel Vazquez
