Bishop Announces New Conference Staff Member
/Robert Schnase, Bishop of the Rio Texas Annual Conference, has announced the appointment of Rev. Diana Phillips to the position of Director of Connectional Ministries. The Director of Connectional Ministries serves as a steward of the vision of the conference; leads the process of continual transformation; works to ensure alignment with the conference vision; and ensures the connection between the local churches, districts, annual conference and general church.
Bishop Schnase is thrilled to welcome Phillips to the conference staff. "She brings a great spirit, a history of positive church leadership, an ability to organize and coordinate complex projects, and an energetic engagement with people," he said. “Among her responsibilities will be planning annual conference sessions, coordinating our nominations process, giving focus to the Uniting Table, and helping coordinate the clergy convocation. These all require excellence, a focus on fruitfulness, and strategic planning which are qualities and values Diana offers to conference leadership.”
Rev. Phillips currently serves as Senior Pastor at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church, San Antonio. Prior to her latest appointment, she served as an associate at Bulverde UMC, Gruene UMC, and First UMC, Seguin. She currently serves as chair of the Vitalizing Congregation Vision Team and is a member of the Uniting Table.
In response to the news of her appointment, she said, “I believe my work in the local congregation, especially serving the wonderful congregation of Colonial Hills UMC, as well as the wide range of experiences gained over the years by serving the district and conference, has enabled me to discover what energizes me and what ignites my passion. Through these ministry opportunities, I have discovered a passion for visioning, strategic planning and process management. I am very excited for this important new adventure in ministry and working alongside those who have realized a similar passion!”
