Full-Time Children's Ministry Director
/First United Methodist Church of Hurst is growing, and we’re ready to welcome a full-time Children’s Ministry Director to help us scale a vibrant, welcoming ministry for children and families (birth–5th grade). We’re a warm, Wesleyan, and deeply inclusive congregation in Hurst, Texas, seeking a leader who is joyfully United Methodist—grounded in grace, guided by Scripture and tradition, and eager to form kids as everyday followers of Jesus.
Our next director will be a builder and equipper: recruiting and discipling volunteer teams, partnering with parents, and shaping simple systems that can grow with us. You’ll supervise our Nursery Coordinator and our part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator, steward the ministry budget, collaborate in weekly worship planning (including acolytes), and shape learning rhythms, seasonal milestones, and big moments like VBS.
We value holy listening and child-spirituality practices inspired by Dr. Leanne Hadley, and we’re committed to a safe, trauma-aware environment for every child through MinistrySafe. We’re offering $46,000–$50,000 plus health insurance, retirement benefits, PTO, and professional
development. If you’re energized by equipping volunteers, rooted in United Methodist theology and polity, and ready to help more families experience Christ’s welcome, we’d love to hear from
you.
Please send your résumé, cover letter, a brief philosophy of children’s discipleship, two references, and one sample volunteer training or program plan to Rev. Matt Ybañez at mybanez@fumchurst.org.
First United Methodist Church of Hurst is a warm, multi-generational congregation located in the heart of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. We average worship attendance in the 400s and serve a diverse suburban community with deep ties to local schools, nonprofits, and social-impact partners. Our campus is large, active, and ministry-rich—home to vibrant children’s, youth, adult discipleship, and outreach ministries, along with growing community partnerships.
As a theologically moderate United Methodist church, we emphasize grace, inclusivity, and lived discipleship. The staff culture is collaborative and mission-focused, with a strong commitment to systems, hospitality, and excellent ministry across generations. FUMC Hurst is in a season of renewed growth and strategic alignment, strengthening our infrastructure and investing in ministries that connect people to Christ, community, and compassionate service.
