As an initiative of the General Board of Global Ministries, the Outreach Vitality office is working to establish the 50/50 Partnership process as a foundational learning platform offered to local churches in the districts. The traditional approach to mission is often needs-based, short term relief. The new vision of partnership embraces asset-based long-term development!

THE INTERFAITH WELCOME COALITION (IWC) IS A BROAD NETWORK OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, FAITH NETWORKS AS WELL AS CONCERNED INDIVIDUALS. THE GROUP CAME TOGETHER IN THE SUMMER OF 2014, IN RESPONSE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF REFUGEES ARRIVING IN TEXAS.
OUR WORK ESPECIALLY FOCUSES ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN SEEKING ASYLUM HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY HAVE MADE ARDUOUS JOURNEYS OVER THOUSANDS OF MILES TO SEEK SAFETY FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GANG VIOLENCE; IN RETURN, IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT HAS IMPRISONED THESE WOMEN WITH THEIR CHILDREN. WHILE THE FAMILIES ARE DETAINED, THE IWC TRIES TO VISIT WITH THEM, AND OFFER THEM OUR FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT. AFTER THEY ARE RELEASED, WE MEET THEM WHERE THEY ARE DROPPED OFF AT THE BUS STATION TO GIVE THE KIDS A BACKPACK OF TOYS AND SNACKS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DENIED OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR DETENTION. BEYOND THAT, WE ADVOCATE IN OUR LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS TO PUSH FOR THE END OF FAMILY IMPRISONMENT.

The General Board of Global Ministries is the global mission agency of The United Methodist Church, its annual conferences, missionary conferences, and local congregations.

Vision: The General Board of Global Ministries equips and transforms people and places for God's mission around the world.
Four Mission Goals:
Make disciples of Jesus Christ;
Strengthen, develop, and renew Christian congregations and communities;
Alleviate human suffering;
Seek justice, freedom, and peace.
