Overview
The Local Pastor Licensing School (LLP) prepares individuals for pastoral ministry in The United Methodist Church. This year’s program will follow a hybrid format, combining online coursework with an in-person week of learning, worship, and formation.
Who This Is For
Licensing School is required for individuals who are being appointed to a charge in the Rio Texas Conference for the first time, regardless of educational background or stage in the ordination process.
Program Format
Hybrid model (online + in-person)
Four online courses completed prior to arrival
In-person session in Kerrville (May 24–29)
Candidates who have completed seminary are not required to complete the online courses but are welcome to do so.
What to Expect
• Intensive, week-long learning experience
• Approximately 80 hours of instruction
• Daily schedule (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)
• Worship, study, and group engagement
• Preaching and worship leadership opportunities
Fees & Payment
• $500 (Rio Texas Conference participants)
• $750 (all others)
Lodging and meals included.
• A $100 deposit is required with the application. The remaining balance is due before the class begins.
