ABOUT THE PROGRAM

What does moral leadership look like in a Church navigating rapid cultural change, institutional uncertainty, and emerging possibilities for ministry? How do leaders make faithful decisions when resources shift, structures evolve, and new opportunities arise?

In this four-session series, the Very Rev. Ian Markham, Ph.D. and Dr. Lisa Kimball, Professor Emerita of Practical Theology, will guide participants through thoughtful conversations with leaders serving in a variety of ministry contexts. Each session explores a different dimension of moral leadership: service, reorganization, remaining within one’s means, and new initiatives. Designed for clergy, lay leaders, educators, and anyone engaged in shaping the future of the Church, each session includes:

  • An introduction to key literature and theological perspectives related to the session theme

  • An in-depth interview with a ministry leader

  • A closing synthesis highlighting practical insights and emerging questions for faithful leadership today

This event is brought to you by the department of Lifelong Learning at Virginia Theological Seminary.
