Reports to Student Ministry Pastor
Status: Part time, 10 hours

Job Summary: 

Essential Functions: 
• Children’s Ministry
o Serve as point of contact on Sunday mornings for volunteers. Ensure teachers and assistants are present in each class. 
o Help with special ministry events such as I love My Church Sunday, Backpack Festival, Palm Sunday, Easter, and the Children’s Christmas Eve service. 
o Assist or teach in the youth Sunday school classes at 9:30 am and 11 am if needed. 
o Prepare supplies for Sunday morning children classes. 
o Serve as an adult chaperone for Bee Kids ministry on Wednesdays from 3:30-5 pm. 
o Serve as an adult chaperone at Family Gym times on Sundays, 2:30-4:30pm. 
• Relationship Building
o Be present at children ministry events with an intentional and prayerful focus on developing relationships with the children and their families. 
o Cultivate relationships within the larger community. 
• Administration
o Assist Student Ministries pastor with volunteer scheduling. 
o Assist Student Ministries pastor with record-keeping processes for new volunteers, such as background checks and consent forms. 
o Assist with attendance

Other Qualifications
• Deep and vibrant faith and a lifestyle consistent with Christ’s teaching. 
• Experience in supporting or serving in Children and youth ministries
• CPR Certification and First Aid are required to be kept current and paid for by the church. 
• Proficient in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and social media. 
• High School diploma

Job Description

The Journey United Methodist Church is a young and dynamic congregation.  We are intentional in using creative and innovative means to present Jesus Christ to the world and to meet the needs of our community.  We seek to meet people where they are and lead them on the journey to fully follow Christ.

Responsibilities for Children’s Ministry

Coordinate age appropriate, faith enriching activities for children (Birth-5th grade):

• Children’s Church (3yrs-5th grade)
           Lead children’s church weekly: An energetic lesson for multi-age group during sermon time (~30 min.)
           Sync children’s church message with Pastor’s message

  •  Nursery (birth to 3yrs) / Child Care
               Create schedules for staff and volunteers
               Hire and train staff and volunteers on nursery procedures

• Sunday School
           Select/develop curriculum and coordinate volunteers

• Coordinate Children’s activities for Special Events:
          Children’s ministry centric events – roughly 1 per semester (Christmas, Easter, Summer, Fall)
          Adding a child friendly element to church wide special events

  • Recruit, develop, support and celebrate volunteers
  • Coordinate children’s team meetings for planning and visioning, etc.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and support to children and parents
  • Coordinate activities with church calendar                                                                                      
  • Apply The Journey ministry vision/goals to the children in the church and community
  • Ensure compliance with our Safe Sanctuaries Policy

Expectations

  • Approximately 10 Hours (including One on One with Pastor, Staff Meeting, and being present and leading on Sundays 9am-1pm).
  • Staff members are an important part of the church leadership team.  Therefore, it is expected that each person in a director position at The Journey be a committed Christian who regularly practices the disciplines of prayer, scripture reading, fellowship with other believers, generous financial giving, and weekly worship attendance at The Journey UMC.

Staff Accountant (Payables) - Financial Services Team

Position Overview:  We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to process payables for the agency. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Dynamics GP accounting software, Jet Reports and ChromeRiver travel software platforms. He/she will also be responsible to train staff on use of accounting and travel systems. Responsibilities will also include performing accounts payable functions, monitoring agency accounting policies and procedures, preparing reconciliations and performing other essential accounting functions as needed.
