A Message from the President
“I am no longer young enough to know everything”. Dr. Wayne Sotile, founder of the Stile Center on Resilience.
The aging process allows for time and grace to fill in the blanks of our existence and we each as God given gifts. The Rio Texas United Methodist Historical Society (RTUMHS) uses these gifts as a means by which too:
Collect and preserve material related to the History or the Rio Texas Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church and its antecedents.
Promote research, writing, and publication in the field
Locate and support the preservation of appropriate sites of historical interest within the Rio Texas Episcopal area
Develop interest in United Methodist History and skills for pursuing and preserving it among local churches, historians and others
Develop and promote observances of historical anniversaries and other event of interest.
Engage in such other activities as shall be deemed proper.
The “Society” is in the process of planning its 3rd annual meeting and membership drive on February 23nd at the Rio Texas Conference Center with general invitations on the way. We are looking for people young enough to know everything and people who have forgotten some things. We together will approach a blank canvass and paint a picture of who God has called us to be over time and grace.
Peace with love,
Austin Frederick, Jr.
President (RTUMHS)
