Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
/Buda United Methodist Church is located in Buda Texas and has 150-200 people who attend worship weekly. The Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries works with members and church leaders to develop, implement, and oversee programs for children, youth, and families in support of the ministry of Buda UMC, with the goal of strengthening the connection of children, youth, and families to their faith, to this community, and to the larger world. This position builds direct connections with and advocates for children, youth, and families; recruits, supports, and nourishes volunteers; collaborates with staff and church members; and develops and maintains program budgets, records, and communications. BUMC hopes to capitalize on the growth in our area and minister to families. The Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministries will play a crucial role in helping the church develop young disciples and reach families in our congregation and community. This part-time position averages 10-20 hours per week. Office hours are flexible; Sunday morning attendance is required.

Responsibilities:
• Prays daily for children, families, members, pastors, and ministries of Buda UMC
• Attends worship regularly and maintains a presence during worship
• Organizes and oversees children and youth ministries (including, but not limited to Sunday school, youth group, Confirmation class, Vacation Bible School, and special events in the City of Buda that involve children, youth & families)
• Develops relationships with families, youth and children in the church and outside the church
• Works with pastor to promote presence of and participation of children in worship (including but not limited to Children’s Time, acolytes, scripture readers)
• Recruits, equips, nurtures, and inspires volunteers
• Implements and adheres to Safe Sanctuaries policies and practices, including Safe Gathering training
• Oversees the Buda UMC nursery and supervises nursery staff
• Collaborates with staff and office to coordinate childcare for church activities
• Forms and leads a Children’s Council for ongoing support
• Communicates with parents and congregation by newsletter, mailings, email, worship bulletins and person-to-person
• Plans and participates in first aid training
• Uses appropriate child development knowledge to best meet the needs of the children and youth served
• Communicates the needs and concerns of the ministries to pastor as appropriate (in particular, but not limited to: supplies and feedback on curriculum).
• Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and empathetic attitude with the parents, children and youth in your care
• Attends all Administrative Council meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned
