First United Methodist Church Gonzales is located about one hour from both Austin and San Antonio, and is the longest continuously operating Methodist Church in our area of Texas. We are a dynamic church with a passion to make disciples of Jesus Christ and see lives changed through a relationship with Him. We are seeking a Spirit-led individual to serve on our team as full-time Director of Youth and Family Ministries. The successful applicant will have been called and equipped by God to lead the youth ministry of the historic First United Methodist Church. We are seeking an entrepreneurial, charismatic leader to make young disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Personal Qualifications:

Mature disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ Evidence of faithfulness to the church

Commitment to personal holiness (engaging in personal spiritual disciplines)

Commitment to social holiness (engaging in ministries of justice & compassion for the least)

Belief in the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Savior of Man, and Lord of All

Belief in the authority and witness of Scripture to speak into our lives

Commitment to the United Methodist Church and her polity as outlined in our Book of Discipline

Commitment to growing First United Methodist Church

Bonus Qualifications:

Professional or volunteer experience in leading youth ministry

History of work and service in the United Methodist Church

Bachelor’s degree

Educational degree/certifications in religious studies, youth ministry, etc.

Responsibilities:

Reach new youth for Christ

Connect current First Methodist youth into the life of our youth ministry and church

Responsible for youth in grades 7- 12

Teach and model servant/missional leadership to youth

Lead/facilitate Sunday school

Lead/facilitate mid-week Youth Ministry gatherings

Lead/facilitate regular mission/service opportunities

Lead/facilitate fellowship opportunities

Lead/facilitate community development among youth

Lead/facilitate opportunities for camp experiences

Lead/facilitate confirmation (in conjunction with the clergy)

Advance the overall mission of the church under the direction of the Senior Pastor

Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
