Travis Park United Methodist Church, in San Antonio, is seeking a Organist/Pianist/Harpsichordist.

Organist/Pianist/Harpsichordist

The job of the Organist/Pianist/Harpsichordist is to use all Travis Park Church keyboard instruments to support our worship services. This position requires a high level of skill in playing organ, piano and harpsichord, and in accompanying choral and congregational singing. The position also requires knowledge of appropriate repertoire that is compatible with Travis Park Church’s focus on unconditional love, inclusion of all people, and progressive theology.

The job duties include:

  • Play for all Sunday morning services and play for all special services, e.g. Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Christmas Eve

  • Play for all Sanctuary Choir and Emmaus Youth Choir rehearsals

  • Play for all weddings and funerals

  • For any service, wedding or funeral that the organist cannot play, they must arrange for another organist who is familiar with Travis Park Church’s organ

  • Play for performance based Youth Choir fundraiser

  • Work with technicians to maintain the organ, harpsichord and pianos, that they are in tune and in good repair

  • Ensure that Travis Park Church is in Copyright compliance with licenses and reporting

Once an application has been received, Caroline Collins will contact the applicant to schedule an audition. The audition will consist of an applicant playing for one worship service on Sunday morning and one choir rehearsal on Sunday evening. The applicant must be ready to rehearse with the Choir before the Sunday morning worship service at 9:00am and the service ends at 11:00am. Sunday evening rehearsal is 6:00pm-7:00pm.
