Director of Children's Ministry
/St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Corpus Christi, is looking to hire a Part-Time Director of Children’s Ministry.
Job Summary: This position will coordinate, facilitate, and supervise the ministry of children (birth through fifth grade), oversee the ministry of the Nursery (infants and toddlers), and encourage parents and families in the development of their child’s faith in Jesus Christ.
Qualifications:
• Be excited by and for children.
• Background and/or experience in Children’s Ministry or Education
• Be a self-starter who can operate with minimal supervision
• People oriented, friendly, professional, positive, and able to work as a member of a dynamic team. Prompt communication is crucial with other staff and church members.
• A spiritual life that is a model for children and their families. Able to embrace and teach the theology of The United Methodist Church.
• Enthusiasm for creating new programs and support of existing programs.
• Background check and valid driver’s license required. Safe Sanctuaries trained by UMC.
Duties:
• Plan and coordinate weekly programs and activities for the children of the community and St. Luke’s UMC, including but not limited to Sunday School, Children’s Message during late worship service, weekly children’s and youth ministry night, scheduling and oversight of Nursery program.
• Organize, train and work with a Children Ministries team of volunteers.
• Organize Summer Vacation Bible School.
• Know the parents of children, their family situation, and the needs of their children.
• Be responsible for publicity, advertising, web page and social media.
• Coordinate the staffing, facilities, and scheduling of the nursery for infants to 3 years old. Lead/supervise employees and monitor their hours.
• Seek out and attend appropriate opportunities for continuing education.
• Follow all guidelines in the Child-Youth-Adult Safety Policy as adopted by St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor and/or Staff Parish Relations Committee
Accountability:
• Will be accountable to the Senior Pastor with input from the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee with an ongoing and annual evaluation process.
Starting salary $11,250 per year (15 hours/week).
