Director of Music Ministries

Northwest Hills United Methodist Church in Austin is seeking a part-time Director of Music Ministry to prepare music for its traditional Sunday morning worship services as well as other special programs throughout the year.

Requirements:
~ Demonstrated excellence in choral conducting
~ Experience in directing a handbell choir
~ Experience in directing instrumentalists
~ Experience with traditional hymnody, contemporary Christian praise music, and blended music
~ Bachelor's degree in Music (unless exceptional experience and qualifications warrant exception).

Major Responsibilities:
~ Recruit, rehearse and direct sanctuary choir. Currently the sanctuary choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings and sings at the 11:15 A.M. Sunday morning worship services.
~ Recruit, rehearse and direct handbell choir. Currently the handbell choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings and performs when appropriate.
~ Prepare choir(s) for special services during Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter
~ Collaborate with pastors to plan worship music
~ Supervise and collaborate with organist / pianist
~ Perform other duties consistent with an effective music ministry as requested by the Senior Pastor.

Compensation:
$20,000 / year
