Latin American UMC Continues to Serve Homeless
/For years Waco’s Latin American UMC has been serving the homeless.
Volunteers usually prepare a simple sandwich meal and deliver food where homeless persons gather.
“We’ve built relationships with them so they tell us where to go. There are about 10 different areas in downtown where we deliver,” said Pastor Rumaldo Jimenez.
On the weekend before Thanksgiving, the church went all out and provided a warm dinner with all the fixings.
After eating, persons are invited to go into the sanctuary to choose articles of clothing and pray with the pastor if they desire.
Pastor Rumaldo shares that the message following unification to move beyond the walls of the church was instrumental in increasing the church’s commitment to this growing street ministry.
