Historic Flooding in South Louisiana - How You Can Help

Once again, the state of Louisiana is recovering from historic flooding. Rescue efforts are still underway as recovery efforts are just beginning. As United Methodists from around the country have reached out during our time of need in Rio Texas, we have the opportunity to offer aid in the midst of this natural disaster. Here is how you can help.

  • Pray - Please pray for all those who have been affected by this flooding, especially those who have lost loved ones and those who have lost their homes. Please also pray for the safety of first responders and early responders in their effort to bring some relief to those who are suffering.

  • Give - The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has already begun responding to this disaster. Your gifts will help their continued work in Louisiana. To support relief in Louisiana, you can give to Disaster Response, United States (Advance #901670). You can give online by clicking here.

  • Respond - If you are previously trained and certified in the Rio Texas Early Response Team (ERT) program, and are interested in going to Louisiana, they are ready for your help. Please contact Eugene Hileman at aehileman@riotexas.org or call at 210-557-8698.

At this point, our warehouse is filled with flood buckets set to go to Louisiana and we are not requesting more. If that situation changes, we will request more flood buckets through Unidos, our website and social media.

We will continue to keep you posted on how you can help.
