ADVOCACY UPDATE

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick Bio is Policy Director at the American Immigration Council where he directs the Council's administrative and legislative advocacy efforts to provide lawmakers, policymakers, advocates, and the general public with accurate and timely information about the role of immigrants in the United States. Prior to joining the Council, he was an Immigrant Justice Corps Fellow at the Legal Aid Society in New York City, representing immigrants placed in removal proceedings.

WEBINAR TOPIC:

In June, President Biden took two major actions on immigration, cutting off access to asylum for many migrants seeking asylum at the border and announcing a new initiative to provide deportation protections to half a million undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens. Aaron will provide information on the details of these two major orders, discuss their initial and predicted impacts, and explain how they fit within the Biden administration’s broader new approach to immigration.

This monthly webinar seeks to connect people, ministries, and organizations actively supporting asylum-seeking migrants and refugees. Webinar topics have emphasis on evolving humanitarian responses in the areas of hospitality and housing, accompaniment and sponsorship, legal services and policies, and advocacy. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
