Director of Youth Ministry

Harrison United Methodist Church (www.harrisonchurch.org) in Pineville, NC, south of Charlotte near the South Carolina border, is seeking a full-time Director of Youth Ministry. The church is dedicated to bible study and spiritual health for the next generations and building relationships with God and one another. The Director will be the primary leader for the ministries with youth (grades 5-12) and college/university students.

The Director will serve the congregation by recruiting and equipping adult volunteers for the work of the ministry along with developing a Youth Council; developing a comprehensive Christian Education plan (including Confirmation) that highlights faith, friendship, and provides a framework to nurture a deep spiritual development and active membership in the body of Christ; providing programming for youth to participate in ministries, missions, and activities that will allow them to practice their developing faith; and ensuring the church is a safe place for all youth.

Successful candidates will possess:
• Bachelor’s degree; appropriate theological studies/degree preferred.
• Five-plus years of relevant experience in delivering successful programming for youth.
• Excellent organizational, verbal/ written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external members and guests individually or in groups.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices within the time allotted while maintaining a positive attitude.

Job Summary – as an integral member of the church staff team, the administrative assistant will have primary responsibility in several areas:
