Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor

First United Methodist Church, in Corpus Christi, is seeking a Senior Pastor.

Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor supports the work of the whole church, including support for Music & Worship Arts, in alignment with our mission to help people experience Christ’s love, available to all.

Essential Functions
- Gathers, records, and disseminates congregational care information to pastors and volunteers
- Maintains membership and attendance records and is responsible for related correspondence
- Manages aspects of planning, coordination, communication (print, digital, and face-to-face), and record-keeping for worship services, including funerals, baptisms, and weddings, and music outreach events
- Prepares correspondence and other materials for Senior Pastor and Director of Music & Worship Arts and in support of their related committees and performance groups
- Manages all aspects of the Columbarium, including deposits, ordering, and coordinating use
- Coordinates with Facilities Director to schedule meetings and events for church and community groups and pursues new groups and activities for facilities rental
- Supports budgeting and bookkeeping procedures for multiple events and departments
- Prepares, maintains, and submits records required by our United Methodist connectional system
- Provides administrative support for church-wide mailings, projects, and events
- Coordinates with staff to enlist, equip, and assign volunteers in the ministry areas overseen by Senior Pastor and Director of Music & Worship Arts, including maintaining database of volunteers
- Maintains and orders office supplies and other materials

Other Responsibilities
- Covers duties of Administrative Assistant to the Associate Pastor when that person is out of office
- Attends all staff meetings
- Participates in Church Council, Foundation, Nominations & Leadership Development, and Worship Committee meetings as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor, and in coordination with Director of Music & Worship Arts

Minimum Qualifications
- Five years’ experience as an administrative assistant
- Certificate or Associate’s Degree in related field, preferred
- Familiarity with function and purpose of a church
- Proficiency in computer software, such as Microsoft Office and InDesign
- Capacity to learn church-specific software, including database
