Director of Children's Ministries

First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, Texas, is seeking a Director of Children’s Ministries.

Director of Children’s Ministries (20-22hrs/week)

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as the Director of Children’s Ministry contact person for FUMCSM by responding to all who seek information or input regarding children’s programs.

2. Support and help Coordinate meetings and programs involving children and families of FUMCSM.

3. Support and help with publicity for children’s programs.

Need someone to write and publish all children’s classes, activities, programs on all the media forms FUMCSM uses.

4. Support all and attend some events planned for children and families.

5. Help recruit and train teachers/leaders for children’s classes specially children’s Sunday school, Wed Connect childcare and Preteen Nights.

6. Research and procure curriculum for all children’s programs help in ensuring that all FUMC sponsored learning opportunities for kids support the theology of the United Methodist Church.

7. Help monitor and evaluate the curriculum and implementation of the children’s programs of the church, and make changes if needed.

8. Need coordinator to coordinate and assist children’s leaders on Sundays in meeting needs that may arise for supplies, photocopying or scheduling volunteers for their programs.

9. Childcare Coordinator to ensure that the facility is ready for use when children’s programs are scheduled and properly secured when each event is concluded. This may include personally unlocking and locking rooms, cabinets, and setting the thermostats, or training someone to do so.

10. Monitor attendance for children’s programming.

11. Keep children’s contact data current.

12. Be an active part of the Worship Team and an active participant in the spiritual life of the congregation.

13. Coordinate the Children’s sermon on occasion to compliment the Pastor’s message. Assist to find volunteers as needed.

14. Work with the Church Program Staff and Pastors to plan and promote programs that meet the needs of the entire congregation and encourage church growth.

15. Supervise hiring and training childcare workers for the church childcare.

(i.e.Sunday School, preteens, Wednesday connect.)

Support and help Coordinate meetings and programs involving children and families of FUMCSM

Support and help publicity for children’s programs

Support all and attend some events planned for children and families

Attends each Sunday service a month in addition to special Sundays of the church

Recruit/hire/train childcare staff

Recruit volunteers, train, make sure classes are covered each week

Choose, maintain, distribute current curriculum

Provide class rosters for S.S. and nursery

Maintain attendance records for nursery and S.S.

Purchase supplies: snacks, supply room, equipment

Manage each Budget Allocated for Children's Programs

Assign person to Welcome and greet all who enter, provide direction as needed and monitor classrooms during 8 – 12:15

Need someone Remain in the Children's Wing Lobby to Welcome and Greet all who enter, provide direction as needed and monitor classrooms during the Wednesday Evening Activities from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Creates monthly childcare staff schedule

2. Attends all childcare staff training

3. Ensures classes are covered each week. Personally covers if no other person on the childcare staff is available

4. Confirms person to unlock and lock children’s wing interior and exterior doors along with children’s cabinets prior to Sunday worship and after Sunday worship

5. Confirms person on Wednesday evenings to lock up children’s classrooms cabinets and doors and exterior doors
