Director of Communications and Marketing

Director of Communications and Marketing
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide support for church communications, internal and external; be responsible for church publications (newsletter, bulletin, etc.); responsible for web page and electronic communication; and manage church marketing and advertising
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
*Above average verbal and written communication skills
*Knowledge of or ability to learn multiple computer software packages, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, and Shelby Systems.
*Knowledge of social media communication/willingness to be trained
*Knowledge of the printing process and operation of printing/duplicating machines
*Ability to meet weekly deadlines
*Ability to multi-task
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communications
*Share printed information with staff and volunteers
*Production of weekly worship bulletins including collection and editing of order of worship and announcements, layout, production of proofs for staff and volunteers, printing and folding.
*Production of worship bulletins for special worship services during the year
*Production of church newsletter including collection and editing of copy, layout, generation of proofs for staff and volunteers, coordination of advertising, and responsibility for printing and mailing either by off-campus printer and mailing services or in-house equipment.
*Maintain financial records for Communication ministry; receive and deposit funds, generate purchase orders and check requests as needed.
*Manage all financial accounts associated with bulk email services, web page, print and multi-media resources and newsletter
*Design state of the art messages for each communication channel to maintain brand and help the church accomplish its goals, Channels include (but not limited to:
o Hallway monitors
o Electronic sign -outdoor
o All-church weekly emails
o Webpage
o Social media
o Photography
o Video production
*Maintain list of media contacts, deadlines
*Generate press releases
*Compose print and video advertising for the church
*Manage advertising contracts and budgets
2. Miscellaneous Duties:
*Train persons in operation of equipment related to communications
*Manage any graphic design concepts
*Other duties as assigned or requested
IMPORTANT: Knowledge of HTML, website development, comprehensive understanding of InDesign, Publisher and other desktop publishing software, knowledge of church management Shelby software, experience in advertising contract negotiation, press release writing, social media design and publishing, and videography production
Salary: $40,000-42,000 per year with PTO, Health Insurance and Retirement
