Church Planting Discernment Workshop

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” Matthew 9:37

The Rio Texas Conference has SO many growing communities…so many places and possibilities to create new communities of faith, and yet we don’t have enough planters or sending churches willing to go out and start a big, new thing.  Is God calling you or your church in this direction?

This 11-hour virtual workshop helps participants who feel called toward planting to sharpen their discernment questions around starting a new church, second campus, or any expression of multiplication. (Note: This is not a Fresh Expressions training.) Topics are designed to make each participant reflect on their own gifts and calling and seek guidance toward greater clarity and ask the question, ‘Do I have what it takes to start something new?’ There is some required pre-work (competing the DiSC profile among other things), and you will be asked to set this time apart and be fully present. A follow up meeting will also be scheduled with Rev. Karen Horan, Director of Creating / Vitalizing Congregations and Developing Leaders after your reflection paper is written.  This workshop will not be recorded.

Topics covered will include:

·      Your Leadership DNA

·      How you are “Hard-wired”

·      You can’t reach everyone, so what is your affinity group?

·      Your leadership style and why it matters

·      Types of new churches

·      Ministry behaviors that matter

Cost is $100 which includes the $60 cost of the DiSC profile which must be completed prior to the start of the workshop.  Note for Rio Texas participants: $50 will be refunded once you have met with Rev. Horan and turned in your reflection paper.

Schedule will be:

Nov. 28th at 6:30pm for a one hour “meet and greet” with presenters Jim and Kim Griffith, a greeting from Bishop Schnase and an overview of the next two days.

Nov. 29th 9am-4pm (with many breaks for reflection)

Nov. 30th 9am-noon
