50th Anniversary Celebration to Commemorate 1966 Starr County Farm Worker Strike and March

In 1966, farm workers marched from the Rio Grande Valley to the state capitol in Austin to demand higher wages and better working conditions. A large crowd stood at San Fernando in heavy rain to greet them, and a thousand supporters filled the church for a mass in their honor. 

 

En 1966 la unión de labradores marchó desde el valle del Río Grande de Texas al capitolo en Austin demandanado aumento de sueldo y el mejoramiento de sus condiciones de trabajo. Una gran multidad de San Antonianos recibio la marcha al frente de San Fernando durante una lluvia torrencial, y sobre 100 personas atendieron una mesa en apoyo de los labradores.
