Director of Children's and Family Ministries

St. Matthew's UMC is looking to hire a Director of Children's and Family Ministries . This position is part time: 25 hours per week. This position reports to the Senior Pastor. Annual Salary is between $22K and $27K depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans and organizes a Sunday School program Nursery to fifth graders (including managing curriculum, recruiting teachers and support, maintaining rosters and reporting attendance)

Coordinates a Wednesday night children’s class(es) during the school year

Plans and organizes a Vacation Bible School program and other Summer camps/event each year

Provides children opportunities to participate in Christmas events geared for them and their families

Oversees the Nursery Ministry and staff

Assists Senior Pastor to make the 11:00 service children/family friendly

Occasionally present “Children’s Message” during weekly worship

Coordinates ministry events with the Youth Director

Manage SafeGatherings certifications for all volunteers in the church

Participates in staff meetings each week (as possible)

Other Responsibilities:

Networks with other United Methodist Churches for children’s and family ministries

Coordinates Easter Events for the children and families

Day School

- Leads the Day-School chapel once a week

- Membership on the Day School Board - Be present at Day School Graduations and special events

Promote children and family events for the church

Implements the extra duties that are assigned by the Senior Pastor

Minimum Qualifications:

Education degree or 3 year experience leading a successful Children’s Ministry in another church

Is available to work on Sundays and Wednesdays

Demonstrates leadership qualities that will encourage volunteers to work with him/her

Is either familiar with Methodist/Wesleyan theology or is willing to learn it. Is willing to work within this theological framework.
