Called, Transformed, Sent: The Three Movements of Discipleship - Thursday, July 15 at 10:45 am Central via ZOOM
Our denomination’s mission statement underlines the importance of the “transformation of this world” in which we live; but honestly, it seems as if many Christians will too easily pass on engaging the brokenness of the world as the locus of their life in Christ. Maybe, we need a more compelling understanding of what it means to follow Christ…?
Join Rev. Jeremy Basset as he leads us in this conversation. Jeremy currently serves as the disaster response Coordinator for the North Texas Conference and describes himself as being “passionate about God’s mission in the world through the church of Jesus Christ, and absolutely committed to the belief that each congregation is called to be, and can effectively be, the expression of God’s love to the world.”

Jeremy Basset describes himself as being “passionate about God’s mission in the world through the church of Jesus Christ, and absolutely committed to the belief that each congregation is called to be, and can effectively be, the expression of God’s love to the world.”
He recently retired as the Director of the Office of Mission for the Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, a position he held for 15½ years.
Jeremy was ordained in 1983, serving as a pastor in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa for some 18 years before moving to the USA to further his studies in June 1995 in missiology. Now a (retired) clergy member of the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church, he still maintains a vital link with his home denomination through Volunteers-In-Mission teams, teaching and mission partnerships.
Since his formal retirement at the end of 2020, Jeremy has continued to serve the Oklahoma conference as a long-term recovery manager for their Disaster Response ministry (through the end of June 2021). He has also recently been appointed as the Disaster Response Coordinator for the North Texas Conference.
