Intentional discipleship is an essential part of lifelong faith formation. It is the process by which individuals and faith communities recognize, claim, and respond to God’s grace in our lives and the lives of others. As we grow in our love of God and neighbor we participate in God’s redeeming work. Discipleship pathways provide opportunities for God’s people to do this important work.

Discipleship Creative Cohorts

Objective of Cohorts: to engage in a learning, creating, and sharing community as we develop an intentional discipleship plan for our ministry area(s).

What are creative cohorts?

Creative cohorts:

• are groups of ministry leaders in the Rio Texas Conference working with their faith community to develop an intentional discipleship plan.

• include a ministry leader focusing on discipleship and a creative partner from their faith community who is committed to helping the ministry leader in this work.

• meet monthly from Jan 2020- November 2020 via zoom

• are built around a common interest:

  • children

  • Youth

  • Intergenerational

  • Support for continuing the work (churches already engaged in the process of intentional discipleship)

• Prior to each monthly meeting all participants will be asked to:

  • review a video and/or complete a short reading assignment.

  • host a visioning/strategizing session with faith community with a designated creative team (3-5 members of faith community committed to helping ministry leader implement a discipleship system in their church)

  • complete a short reflective assignment.

• provide learning opportunities, supportive conversation, and the sharing of best practices as ministry leaders seek to do this work in their unique contexts.
