Student Ministry Intern

First United Methodist Church Boerne Student Ministries is currently seeking applicants for our 2021 Full Time Summer Internship.

This internship will run from June 1 - August 15, 2021. Salary will be $2000-3000 depending on start date.

Job Description:

The ideal intern candidate will work with Student Ministry staff and volunteers to implement a full summer of programming including Sunday Student Connection, Monday mission work and lunch, and Wednesday open gym with occasional Friday evening family events, as well as assist in planning for future activities for students entering 6th grade through 12th grade. This intern will work with leadership in creating ways to reach students, help them form bonds with each other, guide them on their faith journey and help them to be disciples both inside and outside the church walls.

Qualifications:

• At least one year out of high school

• Strong faith in Jesus Christ and regular involvement in ministry/church

• Passion for reaching teenagers and available to meet their needs and willing to be spontaneous and fully participate in student activities

• Strong communication skills (social media skills a plus); administrative and organizational skills a plus

• Ability to work in a team environment

• An applicant pursuing a career in some aspect ministry is preferred, but not a requirement

Expectations:

• Participation in weekly Student Ministry planning meetings and monthly all-staff meetings

• Assist in planning, promoting and leading weekly Student Connection (Sunday morning) programming, Mission and Munch (Monday mission work and meal), and Wednesday open gym time and preparing for fall

• Partnering with students and leaders to develop a variety of communications tools (social media, YouTube videos, flyers, postcards, announcements, etc.) to reach those involved in Student Ministry

• Engage with students in small and large group settings and facilitate small group discussions

• Challenge students to reach a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ

• Willing to model the Christian life to students and set an example for future growth
