Part-Time Minister of Music
Are you passionate about using music to glorify God and inspire others? Do you have experience in leading and directing a diverse music ministry? If so, you might be the perfect fit for our part-time Minister of Music position! This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 10 hours per week. The salary is negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
Bethel United Methodist Church is a vibrant and welcoming congregation in San Antonio, Texas. We are looking for a talented and dedicated Minister of Music to join our staff and lead our music ministry.
As the Minister of Music, you will be responsible for:
- Directing, planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music program for the music ministry, including all choirs (adult, men’s and youth/children’s), vocal and instrumental components.
- Working closely with the pastor, staff and volunteers, including adults, youth and children, to coordinate and enhance the worship service and other special events.
- Overseeing and training all choirs and musicians and conducting weekly choir rehearsals.
- Planning and serving as musician/director for Sunday services, and choir events and programs, such as Choir Day and Christmas Cantata.
- Planning and serving as musician/director for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions, as requested by the pastor or church members.
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
- A strong commitment to the Christian faith.
- A bachelor’s degree in music or a related field, or equivalent experience and training in music ministry.
- An ability to play the piano and/or organ proficiently, and some knowledge of other musical instruments and styles.
- An ability to lead and direct a variety of musical genres, with an emphasis on gospel music.
- An ability to work well with people of all ages, backgrounds and musical abilities, and to foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation among the music ministry members.
- An ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the pastor, staff, volunteers and church members.
