Director of Children’s Ministry - Part Time
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate and oversee the children’s programming for First United Methodist Church. Ensure that the programming is displaying the love of Christ towards children and nurturing spiritual growth in children.

Ministry Duties
● Oversee Sunday School & Realkids ministry on Sundays
● Implement a recurring monthly evening ministry event for children of the church
● Prepare, train, and equip volunteers to assist in children’s ministry (ensure that all
volunteers are properly screened through church background check system and
have all they need to provide lessons)
● Maintain registration information for each child and family that participates in
ministry. Communicate with all parents about upcoming children’s ministry
activities
● Lead a Children’s Council made up of members of the church who can advise and
support the Children’s Ministry goals of our church
● Oversee the nursery care needs of the church
● Coordinate Vacation Bible School during the summer
● Coordinate Family Summer fun events, Palm Sunday Parade, Easter Egg Hunt,
Children’s Christmas Eve Program
● Assist in coordinating Pumpkin Patch and Trunk or Treat
● Coordinate welcome gifts, meals, other recognition for families with new births
● Serve as the staff liaison to Journey Preschool - Communicate about church
programs and events with the director and parents of Journey Preschool
● Attend weekly staff meeting
● Participate in a continuing Education event each year

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years experience in Children’s ministry

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in children’s ministries. Must have good
organizational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to handle multiple tasks
simultaneously. Must be an enthusiastic team player, must have excellent computer skills, be
proficient with word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, social medias, and other software
programs. Must be a quick learner, good listener and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be
flexible and adapt quickly to change.

Compensation: Yearly Salary of $20,000 (exempt), $1,000 continuing education account, and
3% of salary pension. Paid time off will be offered on a pro-rated basis (50% of what the
handbook outlines for a full-time staff member).
