Preschool Director

FUMC Boerne is looking to hire a Preschool Director

The Preschool Director is responsible for overseeing the staff and the day-to-day operations of the preschool. This position is full time and is supervised by the Senior Pastor of FUMC Boerne. Work hours include Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30am to 4:00pm (school days) and additional hours of the director’s choosing on both Monday and Friday.

Position Requirements:

• Experience with both business management and one year’s experience working as a director in a licensed childcare center.

• Excellent communication and relational skills (with staff, preschool families, and children) as well as strong organizational and programming abilities.

• Knowledge of age-appropriate needs and expectations of children.

• Possesses a high passion and love for children and their families.

• Background checks as needed to meet regulatory requirements.

• First Aid and CPR certified or be willing to obtain certification upon hire.

Description of Duties:

• Ensures that the preschool’s daily operation is administered in compliance with Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers as published by the State of Texas and the Health Department.

• Works to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the children in the preschool.

• Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, supporting, evaluating, and terminating preschool staff.

• Prepares and follows a budget, processes billings and tuition payments, calculates and processes payroll, keeps books up to date, reconciles bank statements, and purchases supplies for the preschool, all in a timely manner.

• Supervises the development of age-appropriate, faith-filled curriculum by the teachers in coordination with the curriculum coordinator.

• Interacts with children and teachers by maintaining a presence in the classrooms, promoting positive relationships and clear communication.

• Provides a welcoming presence for families, children, and staff.

• Works to develop leadership skills in the assistant director, including cross training that person to fill the role of director in the event of Director absence.

• Meets with the Preschool Board of Directors quarterly to share financial, programming, and staffing updates.

• Coordinate usage of shared school/church space with church staff and volunteers.

• Maintains a positive relationship between the church and the preschool.

Compensation package will be based on candidate’s prior experience and qualifications.
