Job Description:
Director of Children’s Ministry
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate and oversee the children’s programming for First United Methodist Church. Ensure that the programming is displaying the love of Christ towards children and nurturing spiritual growth in children.
1. Pray for the church.
2. Ministry Duties
· Oversee the J4J and Real kids children’s ministries
· Prepare, train, and equip volunteers to assist J4J and Real kids children’s
  ministry
· Help make sure that volunteers have all they need to provide lessons
· Help make sure that all volunteers are properly screened through church background check system
· Attend weekly staff meeting
· Maintain registration information for each child that participates in ministry
· Email parents about upcoming children’s ministry activities
· Be available to minister and meet with families of children as needs arise
· Oversee the nursery care needs of the church
· Coordinate Vacation Bible School during the summer
· Help coordinate Family Summer fun events, Palm Sunday Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Christmas Eve    Program
· Assist in coordinating Pumpkin Patch, Trunk or Treat
· Be a staff liaison to Journey Preschool
· Communicate church programs and events with the director and parents of Journey Preschool
· Attend or submit report to Executive Team meeting
· Attend a continuing Education event each year
3. Other Duties as assigned
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in children’s ministries. Must have good organizational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be an enthusiastic team player, must have excellent computer skills, be proficient with word processing, PowerPoint spreadsheets, social medias, and other software programs. Must be a quick learner, good listener and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be flexible and adapt quickly to change.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to type, communicate verbally on the phone and electronically and must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
HOURS
Full-Time 40 hours/week (exempt)
