San Antonio United Methodist Campus Ministry hosted a forum at San Antonio College called "How Politics Influences Religion" at San Antonio College on Election Day 2016, November 8. Represented were Sister Patricia Connolly, Counselor at St. Vincent de Paul; Mehmet Oguz, San Antonio Dialogue Institute of the Southwest; Rabbi Marina Yergin, Temple Beth-El; and Rev.

Civic and religious leaders gathered to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Starr County, Texas Farm Workers' Strike and March on Labor Day 2016. People worshipped at a Mass in a standing room only San Fernando Cathedral to celebrate the farm workers who marched for their civil rights.

Project Transformation aims to promote literacy to low-income youth by using college-aged interns to teach literacy, health and nutrition and arts and crafts programming at a local United Methodist Church. The interns, in turn, will be exposed to many different types of church ministry.

The San Antonio Region Justice for Our Neighbors is one of a nation-wide organization operating at 30 different locations throughout the country with the mission of "providing affordable, high-quality immigration services to low-income immigrants." Rio Texas clergy met with Dr. Phil Maynard and his EMC3 Team on Oct. 6-7 to learn how to be effective coaches for congregations implementing the program. These coaches will be able to meet with and discuss the results individuals receive in the Membership to Discipleship survey.
